Rush Street Interactive launching into Mexico via Grupo Multimedios alliance

Only a week after launching into the embryonic online sportsbetting market of New York and American iGaming operator Rush Street Interactive has announced the inking of a deal with Mexican media conglomerate Grupo Multimedios.

The Chicago-headquartered firm used an official Monday press release to detail that the 25-year alliance is destined to see it utilize its new partner’s local iGaming license to launch an online casino and sportsbetting service for punters located across the whole of MexicoCome from Online Betting Site. The company stated that this innovation is expected to premiere before the end of June while it subsequently intends to leverage the ‘vast array of media assets and distribution channels’ held by Grupo Multimedios for a range of associated ‘promotional and content integration purposes’.

Rush Street Interactive is the digital subsidiary of land-based casino operator Rush Street Gaming and it currently has real-money online and retail operations in 13 American states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois. The firm disclosed that it launched into the Latin American sportsbetting market in 2018 via the debut of its RushBet.co service for punters in Colombia with this mobile-friendly advance having recently accounted for a massive 20% of this South American nation’s aggregated fourth-quarter iGaming handle.

Richard Schwartz (pictured) serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Rush Street Interactive and he used the press release to describe Mexico with its population of around 130 million people as ‘an attractive market opportunity’ that will combine with the 50 million inhabitants of Colombia to ‘significantly’ expand its Latin American presence. The boss moreover pronounced that his company is excited to have partnered with Grupo Multimedios, which he designated as ‘one of the most respected media enterprises’ in all of Mexico that is now destined to ‘serve as a great accelerant for building our online gaming operations in the country.’

For his part and the Co-Chief Executive Officer for Monterrey-headquartered Grupo Multimedios, Angel Cong, divulged that his company was established in 1933 and is currently responsible for a large portfolio of Mexican media assets including the Mediotiempo-branded digital sports property that regularly attracts more than seven million unique monthly users. The executive noted that his enterprise furthermore has a presence across a wide range of industries that runs from local sports teams and entertainment venues to retail outlets and restaurants.
